What's new at The Loft - Episode 34

Wasn't looking for inspiration, but it found me!

I love finding new inspiration, especially when I'm not necessarily looking forward to it. I recently took a trip to Ikea to get one last piece of furniture needed to finish daughter #1's bedroom. I wanted the trip to be quick so I could go home and work on some other projects, but as soon as I walked inside I found myself amazed and inspired by my surroundings. And much to my older daughters frustration, I began snapping pictures like crazy, and our quick trip was not so quick.

ATC 3.6.5. Challenge

8/21 "Fly Away" - Made from Websters paper, pop up foam, and clear letter stickers.

8/22 "Here We Go Again" - My tribute to Jonny Quest, which was one of my favorite cartoons when I was a child.  Made from some really neat trading cards my husband brought home from Comic-Con this year.  The image of Jonny was grabbed off the Internet.

8/23 "Game On" - Background and image of Steve Stamkos taken from promotional materials for the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team, I received in the mail.  Title is from the Making Memories alpa stickers.

8/24 "Drive By" - background, image and title taken from a AAA Auto Club magazine.

8/25 "Confucius Say" - image taken from an Urban Outfitters catalog, title printed off of the computer.  I really love this card, and it's play on the common belief that women are obsessed with shoes.  So not true for me anyway!    I'd rather get a few more jars of paint.

8/26 "Bad Day" - Made with black acrylic paint and a white paint marker.  Unfortunately the name says it all for this day.  A very bad day indeed.

Well that's all I have for today.  As always comments are always welcome so please feel free to drop me a note and tell me what you think.   Thanks for stopping by and come back soon!

What's new at The Loft - Episode 33

Welcome Back!

Twenty years ago when I was in college I was exposed to so many wonderful and creative things.  One of which was stamp carving.  Back then the stamps I carved were small and extremely simple in design, so when I recently took up stamp carving again I tried some designs that were a bit more complex.   Here are some of the stamps I've carved recently.

ATC 3.6.5 Challenge

I can't believe we are already half way through September already, and I'm still keeping up with the challenge.  I'm actually surprised myself that I have made it this far.  And even though I find myself creatively drained on some days, I am determined to see it through to the end.  So without further ado, lets try to get more caught up on the cards.

Well that's all I have for today.  I'll be posting again soon to try to get caught up on posting about the cards up to date.  As always comments are welcome so feel free to let me know what you think.  Thanks for stopping by and come back soon.

What's new at The Loft - Episode 32

Hey everyone, we are back.  I'm still working on updating the blog so look for a few small changes in the future.

ATC 3.6.5.Challenge

All this time spent on updating the blog however has put me far behind on posting about the ATC 3.6.5. Challenge.  I'm still doing my card everyday and am excited to get back to sharing them with you.  I found that with previous postings I was too long winded with the explanations, which even I found to be boring, so I'm changed my format here and kept it short and sweet.

7/30 "Evelyn" -   Papers and images from Tweety Jill.

7/31 "Let's Make Beautiful Art" - This is a matchbook ATC, using cover art from a Gwen Stefani CD that my friend Pat found in the trash.  This is the outside of the matchbook.

The inside even has the matches with messages of inspiration written on them.

Here's a close up of the matches and their messages

8/1 "Special Kind of Love" - Image is  from Stampington free papers, hearts cut from PDQ and Basic Grey paper.

8/2 " Little Princess"  - Paper is from Graphic 45, image from Tweety Jill and the foil crown is from the Retro Art Cafe. Paint Ranger paint dabbers.

8/3 " Matrix Tribute"  - Digital ATC combining multiple images

8/4 "Angry" - My first attempt at art journaling.  I'm working on a larger journal now, but got my feet wet with this ATC.  Made with acrylic paint, Zig marker and a black sharpie.

8/5 " Be Merry" - Paper and image from Tweety Jill, mini alpha stickers from Making Memories.

8/6 "Imagination" - Paper from Webster's Pages, Image from Tweety Jill, words from Theresa Collins.

8/7 "Calico" - Piece cut flower, made with papers from 2010 Scrapbook a day calendar and a black Zig marker.

8/8 "Noir" - Made with paper from Graphic 45, image cut from a brochure I picked up in Charleston, SC.

8/9 "Bandanna" - Uniball Signo pen and Gelly Roll metallic pen on top of red acrylic paint.

8/10 "World Traveler" - papers from collage paper pack, image from Tweety Jill, film negative found around the house.

Well, I'm going to end here for now, but will post again soon with more cards from August.  I hope you like what you have seen.  As always your comments are welcome so please drop me a line and let me know what you think.  Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you soon.
